About the
Festival
The Devil’s Thumb Chamber Music Festival is a new, community-centered arts initiative bringing world-class classical musicians to Petersburg, Alaska, May 20–23, 2026. Founded by Petersburg-raised soprano Stephanie Pfundt, the festival is designed not only to present exceptional performances, but to invest in the cultural life and creative future of Southeast Alaska.

A 30-minute fixed media installation by composer Alexis C. Lamb featuring field recordings from the Tongass National Forest and Amazon Rainforest. Hosted in the Ruth Sandvik Conference Room at the Petersburg Public Library.
Thursday, May 21st
8:00 AM Highschool Workshop
Festival artists will lead a musical
improvisation workshop at the high school
and prepare students for participation in
the public masterclass.
11:00 AM - 8:00 PM NORTH/SOUTH
A 30-minute fixed media installation by composer Alexis C. Lamb featuring field recordings from the Tongass National Forest and Amazon Rainforest. Hosted in the Ruth Sandvik Conference Room at the Petersburg Public Library.
4:00 PM Masterclass with Artyom Pak
Public Masterclass at the Wright Auditorium. Community chamber musicians will work with featured artist Artyom Pak (Juilliard, Opera Sarasota). Free to students; tickets available HERE, at Lee’s Clothing, and at the door.

3:00 PM Forest Orchestra
Join us at Sandy Beach for an immersive, all-natural percussion experience led by featured artist Alexis C. Lamb.
Saturday, May 23rd
3:00 PM Concert: Into the Tongass
Join us for the festival’s final concert at
the Petersburg Lutheran Church. Featured artists perform a program of Beethoven, Strauss, Sondheim, and original works. tickets available HERE, at Lee’s Clothing, and at the door.
